Looking at the latest sea surface temperature anomaly map from Unisys, it seems there may be an issue with the ocean currents. I remember hearing recently (I believe on weather.com) that there was an unexplained warming of Pacific waters along the west coast of the United States. As things like this tend to be sensationalized by the media, I often just ignore the commentary. Inevitably, whatever is happening in the world gets blamed on man. So we fast forward a few weeks to the NOAA claim that October was the warmest on record. The claim was obviously laughable, but I decided to do some poking around. I wanted to see how sea surface temperatures were doing. I bring up a reliable data product, which is the Unisys SST Anomaly Map, to check out the health of ocean temperatures.
