Medan, Waspada Meteorological and Geophysics Agency (BMG) in Parapat, Medan, asked people living in the surrounding area of Lake Toba do not have to panics. The current increasing level of water in Lake Toba was caused by rain pouring the area since early March and not because of volcanic activities or earthquake.

"Samosir Island wouldn't get drowned," said Rifwar K, Head of Geophysics Station of BMG office in Parapat, North Sumatra, told reporters on Thursday. Samosir is inhabited island of Toba Lake. Rifwar admit that there are several ongoing earthquakes in North Sumatra, but the wasn't in Samosir. The epicenter is located at Sidikalang, far away from the areas, and only at 4 Richter scale.
